What I'm Playing
My gaming activities these days happen on Playstation 4, having eschewed a dedicated gaming PC some years ago. These are the games attracting most of my time presently, and I'll attempt to provide occasional updates to the list as new games attract my attention.
Diablo 3 is still in heavy rotation because it's one of those games that is extremely enjoyable with a friend or friends. I play this with John, and we usually end up giggling at the unholy, gore-strewn, slayfest that typifies the Diablo 3 experience from start to finish. A new character class, the Necromancer, reintroduced from the game's previous incarnation, has just been added to the game and it is an awful lot of fun.
Overwatch is another title that comes into it's own when you can play with friends. This is a team-based, competitive, first-person shooter following in the footsteps of games such as Team Fortress. Overwatch offers nothing groundbreaking but it is cute, charming, very accessible, and well-polished. I've been playing almost weekly for more than a year and it still entertains me, even as someone who is not a fan of the genre.
Elder Scrolls Online is my current MMORPG addiction. I've been playing MMORPGs since sometime in 1999 and this one has the best balance of gameplay mechanics of any I've played to date (and the list numbers some fourty-odd games). You adventure in Tamriel, the fantasy continent central to the game series as a hero from one of the setting's numerous sentient races. The game is well polished, the content is interesting and accessible, and Morrowind, the locale central to the eponymous previous title, has just been introduced for players to explore again.
