Wardrobe

In previous posts (including some quite old ones if you care to dig around) I have talked about simplifying my wardrobe. Since the last time I really put much thought into this my needs have changed, specifically I no longer have to follow a strictly smart dress policy at work. This actually makes things easier, but changes the balance of items a little.

This is partly inspired by Project 333, which you should check out for yourself. I am not fashionable enough to rotate my wardrobe, so I'm planning a year-round effort, and being more generous on the item limit (I'm not actually going to set an absolute limit, but figure I should float around 50 or so).

So, below is my list, in pretty raw form, complete with the notes to myself about where I am with it. I've got bags of old unused stuff ready to go to the charity shop, too. I know this is not my most exciting blog post, but maybe you'll find it interesting or helpful.

General Use

  • 4 Check/Plaid Shirts (I am a Bear, after all, currently at 3)
  • 3 Pairs of Jeans (1 pair short at present)
  • 1 Belt (Sue for replacement)
  • 1 Set of Braces (Suspenders, if you're American)
  • 2 Pairs of Shorts
  • 8 T-shirts (I need to take account of how many I have that I actually still wear)
  • 1 Hoodie
  • 2 Jumpers/Sweaters (Currently missing)
  • 8-10 Pairs of Underwear (each day of the week + spare/replacement)
  • 8-10 Pairs of Socks (as above)
  • 1 Suit (actually formal trousers and a waistcoat rather than a full lounge suit)
  • 1 Formal Shirt (I rarely need to dress formally)
  • 1 Set of Cufflinks
  • 1 Tie
  • 1 Tweed Waistcoat (For the smarter end of smart–casual — and because it's awesome)
  • 4-5 Vests (to go with the check shirts and for general use)
  • 1 Pair of Walking/Hiking Boots
  • 1 Pair of General Use/'Smarter' Boots (missing)
  • 1 Pair of Gloves
  • 1 Set of Pyjamas or Night Wear (I only use them when away from home, and I need replacements)

Gym

  • 1 Pair of Sweatpants (Colder weather)
  • 1 Pair of Sweatshorts (Warmer weather)
  • 1 Pair of Compression Shorts (If you're chunky these things will save your thighs)
  • 1 T-shirt (Colder weather)
  • 1 Vest (Warmer weather)
  • 1 Pair of trainers (which are going to need replacing soon)
  • 1 Hoodie (which is also going to need replacing)
